Helpful information for drill press owner

The drill press has been around so long, there are not many writers creating 'how to' books for them any more. This book by Nick Engler is one of the few that I could find on the subject. Having just bought a new drill press, I've found this book has lots of useful information about how to use the machine to best advantage. It's well written and illustrated too.

Good book. I bought this because my drill press ...

Good book. I bought this because my drill press had quite a bit of run out, and the author has a good section on how to true up the spindle and chuck. I ended up buying a new chuck, but the information is invaluable anyway. He has a section on how to prep the drill press (by locking the quill) so you can use it as a light drum sander, and for very light routing. This gave me the courage to try routing with a 1/8" bit and it works well at 3500 rpm. It's much easier to free-hand rout when you can actually see the work from the top. Just make sure you seat the chuck before you start, and stop immediately if you get chatter. I also made an arbor from a 5/8" bolt, and use it to hold a diamond tile saw to sharpen table saw blades.

We are headed to Boston this coming spring, and the girls are already planning to visit some of the places mentioned. The map will come in handy when the girls re-visit American history in 8th grade. Good material, even for long time preppers

I've traveled a lot and I grew up a "prepper"/"survivalist"/whatever, so I was very intrigued by this book, given Mr. Nester's reputation.

First, it isn't a book, it's a pamphlet. For a buck, something you can read while you are waiting on breakfast to cook is reasonable- any higher priced I would be disappointing. (Maybe it could be bundled in hard copy with some of Nester's other work for like $12, then it might be a book.)

Second, I'm impressed by it. There are lot of savy traveler guides, and this compliments them well. I think the author could have repeated some of the common information in them, like always have socks, underwear, a toothbrush and deodeant in your traveler's go bag, but we've all known that for years. His minimalistic kit still works, and had ideas I hadn't thought of (vet wrap and filling putty) to include in my travel gear. It's hard for a book to have something new in it on the topic of prepping.

Third, there was one thing I didn't see. The ONLY other book I've read on prepping while traveling had a big long section on improvised weapons and how to smuggle plastic shivs through security. Thank you for not wasting our time with that drek, Mr Nestor. Once you are at your destination, pick up a cheap pocket knife and leave it behind when you fly home.

The style is a little awkward at times, and there were a couple typos, but nothing major. I also like that he only mentioned brand names a few times- so many of the new preparedness books are of the "buy this, this, this, and this, and a bunch of MREs and ammo, and you'll be fine" variety.

If you know a traveler, they deserve a copy. If you part of the preparedness community, you deserve a copy. It's a buck- you'll still save money if you skip buying coffee to get this. Why? Because if you travel, it's a matter of when, not if, you get stuck.

Good eBook. Great value.

Good eBook, Great value but don't not rely on one source for all of your survival needs. This is a good book, I found useful information in it. I would buy it again. I shared it with my brother.

It has been several years now. But I was in the Airforce "Special Ops" for six years. Spent some time in the woods and attended a handful of survival schools, including a school by the British SAS.

Final word, there is no single expert on Survival. Refer to several sources to determine your survival needs.

Travelling for Fun and Crisis hits

Just because your on holiday and travelling for pleasure and fun (and you don't want to think about that on vacation) doesn't mean you can't find yourself in the midst of a tornado, hurricane or earthquake, or personal illness or injury. This book was full of simple tips to make dealing with these situations a little bit better.

Einstein EXPOSED ...Fraud...Fraud...Fraud

This book should be on the Best Seller list for the next century. It's publication has been a long time coming. Finally! someone has come to expose Albert Einstein for the moron, fraud, and one lacking in moral character in all phases of life. Not only did Einstein mislead many academics and those pursuing real math and physics, but distorted religious views by readily accepting himself to the level of godhood.

May the sands of Time erase his memory.

More anti-Semitism on Amazon!!!!

This book was written by the same guy, self-published on Create Space (Amazon) who has flooded Amazon with anti-Semitic garbage. He is a hateful nutjob.

I have not read this book, but know quote a bit about Albert Einstein, as I have several biographies. Mileva was also a physicist, and it is certainly possible that she worked with him on the Theory of Special Relativity. It is equally possible that she did not.

Was Milva Jewish? I'm not sure. No. She was Serbian, and was Serbian Orthodox. That is why the author wants to give her credit for the theories. She was NOT Jewish. The only reason. The idea that she gave Albert a lot of help has been looked into for quite a few years. No actual evidence has been found that she was intrinsic in his scientific affairs. No proof that any scholar will accept. But of court, the author is not a scholar, simply a spittle throwing anti-Semite. But he knows he has an audience..

She might have been. They divorced early. Much earlier than the Theory of General Relativity, the principal theory, came out, so there is no case for her having anything to do with that. She lived in Switzerland with the two boys. Albert lived all over th e place.

Mileva was probably a nice woman and a good mother, and even a good physicist, but she did not help Albert significantlyi.
Now Einstein was a bit of a hermit, unless he got to hand out with other physicists. To call Albert and fraud and give all the credit to Mileva, if th is is what this books does, is total nonsense.

Between an introduction and appendix provided by Babinski, 33 former Christian fundamentalists explain how and why they first embraced, and later abandoned, that belief system. Of these, eight have become atheists, eight (including Babinski) agnostics, one a wiccan, and one a Zen Buddhist; the remainder have remained Christian. Major contemporary religious writers such as Harvey Cox and Sam Keen are included. The agenda here is unmistakably antifundamentalist, and the occasional leak of vitriol does distract. Also, in its ambition to be comprehensive, Babinski's annotated "list of additional testimonies" neglects a distinction between trash and treasure. However, in the main the individual statements and recollections are clearly, thoughtfully, and intelligently presented, and documentation is thorough. For this reason, and because no similar collection of such breadth and depth is available, this work is reservedly recommended as a useful addition to church, academic, and larger public library collections.?Bill Piekarski, Southwestern Coll. a must for all pastors to read

I highly recommend this book for all pastors, religious teachers, and others interested in religion. It illustrates the critical importance of apologetics as part of the training of all Christian youth. I have been a Methodist, Lutheran and other denominations in my almost 60 years of life and most of them never covered any area of apologetics in either Sunday school or during the regular church service. As a result young people are easily influenced by the distorted or wrong arguments espoused by atheists and agnostics. Typically one's religious beliefs are fairly well established when quite young and rarely do churches give their charges much information to enable them to deal with objections such as those raised in this book. No wonder more than half of all Christians leave the church as adults. In my family over 90% have left the church. The churches have no one to blame but themselves. The reasons those in this book gave for leaving Christianity could usually have been answered by a good apologetics class. Many boil down to the classic "where did Able get his wife" thus, they conclude, Darwinism must be the explanation of where we came from, therefore there is no God. I was also surprised at how frequently encountering Darwinism in school was a major, if not the major, reason why theism was rejected. As a whole public school and college were a major reason why many became atheists, agnostics, nominal Christians or cultural Christians. This supports the research that concludes government schools are not neutral, as the constitution requires, but clearly indoctrinate against theism and, especially, Christianity. Much is made out of the putative mistakes in the Bible yet Christianity teaches only the original autographs were inspired, not the copies, and we have none of the originals today (but most of the copies differ mostly in spelling). Thus we can have confidence in the scriptures we have today (but mistakes do exist).

An interesting bit of trivia

I worked at a public library in the part of South Carolina where the author lives (the general area of Bob Jones University). When this book came out, there was so much uproar over it from community fundamentalists that my spineless library director pulled it from the shelf -- in other words, it was banned. Now, here's the milion-dollar question: if these fundies believe in something so wonderful and perfect, why do they object so rapidly to anyone questioning it? Hmmm. Just some food for thought.

medicine for a wounded soul

This book is a breath of fresh air for someone who has been the victim of a psychologically abusive fundamentalist church. I left fundamentalism 6 months ago for so many reasons, and reading this book helped clarify those reasons. It is well written, and includes many testimonies of former fundamentalists who have left the movement. I would encourage anyone with a desire to understand the abusive side of fundamentalism to read this book.
